I may have become a tiny bit obsessed with my discovery of these lanky and bewitching black-eyed beauties beckoning from against the deep red siding of a barn. The Hollyhocks at Red Clover series marries the organic lines of mid-summer flora and the geometric architecture of farming in a striking color palette that is both unifying and limited.  These compositions span the spectrum of abstraction with both representational painting and free-form mark making. The series grew out of a plein air painting session in The Driftless region of Wisconsin and was finished in studio.

Selections from this collection, along with some charcoal and watercolor studies, are hanging in my Microgallery at Water Street Studios through November 2026.
